First Carolina, REALTORS®In the early 60’s, a neighborhood with
water access was established in the Havelock area. Since having access to the water within Havelock was a
rarity, Ketner Heights became a popular place to live. Crystal Lake is located at the
back of the neighborhood and has direct access to the Neuse River. A good number of homes are situated around
the perimeter of the neighborhood on navigable canals that lead to the river.
The home sites in the neighborhood are
.5 acre and up…another reason for its popularity. The majority of the homes are of brick construction with
three bedrooms. In recent years,
several undeveloped lots have had new homes built on them. Scattered throughout the neighborhood
are custom homes owned by long term residents of Havelock.
Monthly home expenses in Ketner Heights
are less than within the city limits.
The neighborhood has not been annexed and is considered an extraterritorial
portion of Havelock, so there are no city taxes to pay. Water is provided by Craven County and
the homes have septic systems.
Power is provided by Progress Energy, one of the preferred electric
companies in the area.
The atmosphere in Ketner Heights is
quiet and relaxed. There are
all types of families: young
couples with small children, retired folks. The size and price of some of the homes make it a great area
for first time home buyers. There
are a few duplex units owned by investors that have a long standing rental
history.
Located near the center of Havelock,
Ketner Heights is close to all of Havelock’s grocery stores and all shopping
opportunities. If you work in New
Bern or Morehead City, the commute is less than 20 minutes--and, of course,
it’s just minutes from either of the entry gates to MCAS Cherry Point.
Ketner Heights is just the place to
look if you want a settled and established neighborhood with the utmost in
convenience. It’s as popular now
as it was when it was first developed.
First Carolina, REALTORS has been
extremely active in the sale of homes in this subdivision over the years.
