The Moorings

This upscale waterfront community on the west shore of Clubfoot Creek, the original Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and a secondary nursery for green shrimp, flounder, and blue crabs, has only 50 lots, and all of the homes are custom built.  There are 17 waterfront lots with private docks, each with 1-4  boat slips. 

The creek spans 1000+ yards wide.  Imagine watching pods of playing dolphin from your back yard.  You may enjoy net casting for dozens of truly fresh shrimp from your dock; or, if you prefer, you can purchase fresh shrimp directly from the that ply the creek in mid-summer.   Anywhere in the creek you can go crabbing, flounder gigging at night, canoeing, kayaking, or jet skiing…to say nothing of fishing or simply relaxing with the sound of the wind and the play of light on the water.  Sunrises and moonlight on the water are daily visual feasts on the creek.  The simple word “WOW” applies to this special place.

There is 22-slip marina that provides a deeded deep water boat slip for the off-water lots.  The design objective was to provide all property owners with their own deeded boat slip.  Each home is utterly unique, and all construction is approved by an informed Architectural Control Committee. One of the great things about The Moorings is that, while there is deep water (4+ feet), the land is higher than most property on the waterfront.  Some lots have an elevation of more than 14 feet above mean high water (MHW).  The area is served by the county water system, and a local volunteer fire department is close to the sub division.  The Moorings community is located in Craven County and has a Havelock, NC, mailing address.

The owners of boats in The Moorings all have easy access to the Neuse River, the Pamlico Sound, the Intracoastal Coastal Waterway, and the Atlantic Ocean via the Beaufort Inlet.  These waters are generally acknowledged to be at the center of sailing in this part of the East Coast of America.  MCAS Cherry Point, just nine miles west, is also a close destination and within thirty 30 minutes you can be in historic Beaufort, NC.
